Ukraine/Russia

2014 Partial Russian Invasion. 2022 Full Invasion of Ukraine

On February 20, 2014, Russian forces invaded the Donbass region of Ukraine along with the Crimea. That same year, Russia annexed Crimea and incorporated it into the Russian Federation. Since then, the Donbass region continued as a war zone with Russian separatists, backed by Russia, battling Ukrainian forces for control. Russia's excuse for the invasion was to protect the Russian speaking population in the area from alleged Ukrainian abuses. They also blamed the United States for orchestrating a coup and placing Vladimir Zelensky as the country's President.
